The Welfare Officer (HR, Admin & Compliance) is responsible for promoting employee welfare, maintaining a positive workplace environment, supporting HR and administrative functions, and ensuring compliance with labor laws, company policies, and buyer requirements. The role serves as a bridge between management and employees by addressing workplace concerns, coordinating welfare activities, handling employee grievances, and supporting audits and compliance initiatives while contributing to smooth day-to-day administrative operations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Form different committees of workers and employees, such as production committee, welfare committee, and canteen committee, and inform them about their duties and responsibilities.
- Monitor various facilities and benefits such as canteen, restroom, daycare center, use of mountain/leisure facilities, drinking water, etc.
- Cooperate with workers during labor unrest and inform workers about any agreement and other decisions made between the two parties.
- Keep supervision over workers’ welfare matters such as housing, food, fair-price shops in cooperative societies, recreational and educational facilities, health services, provident fund opportunities, etc.
- Monitor and recommend improvements in workers’ working and living standards and their welfare.
- Provide training to newly recruited workers, improve workers’ educational standards, encourage their participation in training programs, and provide necessary guidance and advice.
- Provide necessary assistance and advice to management authorities and workers in implementing the labor laws within the organization.
- Maintain communication with the factory or organization’s medical officer to ensure workers receive proper medical facilities.
- Take necessary steps to improve labor-management relations.
- Discuss matters related to the welfare of female and child workers with management and workers’ representatives.
- Take prompt initiatives to resolve any disputes arising between workers and management.
- Understand workers’ grievances and assist both workers and management in resolving mutual misunderstandings.
- Inform the authorities of any organized or collective movement by workers that may lead to unrest.
- Maintain liaison and coordination to preserve harmonious relations between the factory/organization authorities and the workers.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)
- Concentration/Major: Bachelor's/ Masters in human resource management, Management
