The Manager – Coating Plant is responsible for overseeing the overall operation, production efficiency, quality assurance, maintenance coordination, and process optimization of the paper coating plant. The role ensures the production of high-quality coated paper products by maintaining operational excellence, controlling production costs, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and leading a team of technical and production personnel. The incumbent collaborates closely with production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to achieve business objectives and continuous improvement targets.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and control daily coating production activities to ensure smooth operations in coordination with pulping, paper machine, and coating operators.
- Monitor and optimize coating machine performance by controlling key process parameters such as speed, coat weight, and drying conditions to ensure consistent production efficiency.
- Ensure coated paper quality compliance with required standards including grammage, gloss, PPS, opacity, and printability through continuous process monitoring and testing.
- Analyze production defects such as streaks, wrinkles, coating skips, and other quality deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for coating machines and dryers to minimize breakdowns, downtime, and production losses.
- Ensure strict compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental standards across the coating plant.
- Manage and optimize raw material consumption including pigments, binders, and additives to reduce cost and improve overall process efficiency.
- Drive operational excellence by reducing machine downtime, minimizing off-grade production, and improving overall yield.
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of coating operators, shift supervisors, and technical staff to ensure high productivity and discipline.
- Coordinate with production planning, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operations and achievement of production targets.
